
Biography
Edna Rincon is a Colombian cellist whose artistic career bridges performance, collaboration, and explorations beyond the classical repertoire.
From 2017 to 2021, she was a member of the Filarmónica Juvenil de Cámara de Bogotá, where she collaborated with renowned conductors, composers, and soloists including Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Conrad Van Alphen, Josep Caballé Domenech, Julian Rachlin, Alexander Buzlov, and Krzysztof Penderecki. She has also performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia on several occasions.
Her international experience includes participating in the Santa Catarina Music Festival in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil (2016). In Colombia, she took part in the Cartagena Music Festival (2017, 2020). At the 2020 edition, she performed with the Orquesta de Cámara de Colombia under the baton of Leonardo Federico Hoyos, collaborating with artists such as Santiago Cañón Valencia, award-winning Colombian cellist, and DJ Julio Victoria, one of Colombia’s leading electronic music artists recognized for fusing techno and house with traditional Colombian sounds.
Alongside her classical career, Rincon has been featured in recording projects with Colombian artists, including En Casa Vol. 2 by Tres y Yo and Resabiao by Jaison Neutra. She is passionate about working with local musicians outside the classical sphere and expanding the cello’s role in diverse musical contexts.
Chamber music plays an essential role in her artistic vision. A highlight of her recent projects was performing Danny Elfman’s Piano Quartet at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in 2024, an experience that reinforced her commitment to contemporary chamber repertoire and innovative collaborations.
Edna Rincon earned her Artist Diploma at Texas Christian University in 2025, where she studied under Dr. Juliette Herlin, and she is currently pursuing a master's degree in cello performance at Baylor University under the mentorship of Dr. Philip Borter.
